About “Hospital” (from Cory/Carcrashlander): “Its dedicated to my late grandmother who is responsible for opening me up to a ton of wonderful musicians who to this day I consider some of my heroes. She was a big fan of Jazz and Motown in Oakland and San Francisco in the 60s, and later found herself knee-deep in Reggae after a handful of trips to Jamaica. Her record collection exposed me to folks like Cannonball Adderly and Ron Carter, to Peter Tosh and Ini Kamoze and King Tubby, to Archie Bell and the Drells, to Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder. Just to name a few. So in her honor we attempted to make a bit of a Reggae influenced EP. And we recorded it at a beach house on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington during a rainstorm. We hope you like it.”
OUT NOW! Silian Rail “Parhelion” - (((listen “Parhelion” album preview mp3)))

Album includes 9 new songs from the Bay Area’s most respected instrumental duo.

Available on iTunes or amazon mp3
Like a monster truck across your heart, this instrumental duo knows how to make you feel music. Silian Rail have shared the stage with numerous incredible bands, including Maserati, Caspian, French Miami and From Monument to Masses; playing everywhere from the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco to the Comet Tavern in Seattle, with more than a few church basements, former mortuaries, laundry rooms and tiny, sweaty houses in between. With the release of “Parhelion”, Silian Rail is poised for greatness as they continue to tour, tour, tour, and win the hearts and minds of music lovers near and far...
Not since I saw Hella have I heard such mind-blowing interplay as that between Oakland guitar-drum duo Silian Rail. Just wait till you see drummer Eric Kuhn hold down a complex beat while playing guitar.
- San Diego City Beat
Robin Landy is one of those guitarists I have to limit myself to hearing just to keep myself from succumbing to the urge to give up and put my guitar down for good, and Eric Kuhn just might be the finest rock drummer you’re likely to hear in the Bay Area today. When they’re on, they’ll simply knock you flat on your ass.
- Pop Dose

Parhelion is filled with the kind of adventurous [yet, melodic] instrumental wandering that has become the signature sound of guitarist Robin L. and multi-instumentalist Erick K. Together they manage to make songs that feel like a narrative; tenuously shifting enough without overindulging in an avant-garde sonic masturbation of sorts.
- The Deli Magazine
Silian Rail is what a two piece should be: super full without feeling forced; super interesting without being confusing or feeling self-indulgent; most importantly, both Eric and Robin are superbly deft on their instruments. Parhelion will make my top ten list this year for sure. - Matthew Izen, Musician (The Velvet Teen / Polar Bears)
Out Now! The Rum Diary “Retrospective 2000 - 2007” - (((listen “Pyrrhic Victory” mp3)))

“One of my favorite Bay Area bands”
- Kathleen Wentz, East Bay Express
“We may be able to definitively say that the Rum Diary was Cotati’s greatest indie-rock export, adored by a wide swath of the population—from SSU stoners to dive-bar denizens to serious music fans.”
- Gabe Meline, City Sound Enertia, Bohemian.com
Take a hearty stock of of rhythm (as in TWO rhythm sections), add a liberal dose of dreampop-postrock guitar (a la Mogwai or Three Mile Pilot), drizzle in a tincture of emocore (of the ethereal harmony variety) and voila! you've got the formula for what ails ya. Borrowing the catchy if not exactly applicable title of an early tome from the Good Late Dr. Gonzo for their collective monicker, The Rum Diary were on a quest to make as many friends and blow as many minds as possible, from the wilds of Sonoma County divebars to the crumbling decay(dence) of urban outposts and warehouse lofts they have unselfishly and uncompromisingly brought their message to themasses. And the rest is history: scattering through-out the country, impressing at least one member of Fugazi (has David Gilmour heard this shit?) and setting the bar ever higher with every new release...
“Retrospective” captures it all and then some. 17 tracks total, including;
* indie-pop hits “The Day Dale Earnhardt Died”, “Poolside”, “Assassins in Moccasins”
* crowd favs “Mileage”, “Sunken Fields”, “It’s Midnight”
* deep tomb treasures (unreleased songs) from the archives
* songs previously only available on vinyl and more!
Carcrashlander “Where to Swim” - (((listen “Landmines” mp3)))
Buy Now! also available on iTunes! or amazon mp3
What does it sound like? Well, picture this... Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) is on another one of his late night cruises through the streets of Chicago. One hand on the wheel and the other playing tape-deck-DJ in between lighting smokes. He sees a familiar face on the corner of North Western Ave and Division Street. It’s Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) and he’s totally lost (of course). “Last call” is quickly approaching so they pop over to the Rainbow Club (1150 N. Damen Ave) to wet their whistles. Ironically Robert Smith (The Cure) is bar tending. After several rounds of whiskey (and I mean the good stuff) they cram into the bar’s photo both for a series of candids (think Beaches).
Robert gets off his shift, Jeff drives them over to his studio, and Brian unleashes... Strangers things have happened, but none that sound as good as “Where to Swim”.
Here’s what Laura Veirs (Singer/Songwriter, Nonesuch Records) says about the new Carcrashlander album...
“Don your headphones and oversized sunglasses and take a walk out in the sun and listen to the new Carcrashlander; you'll be licking a multi-colored swirly sonic lollipop of jangly guitar rock (ala Pavement), half-sung vocals (ala Little Wings), floaty keyboards and quirky horn arrangements. "Landmines" is my new 2009 summer anthem."
And... Here’s what Tucker Martine (Producer/Musician, Mount Analog/Flora Studios) thinks about the new album...
“Upon hearing the new Carcrashlander record, we are quickly reminded why Cory Gray is one of Portland's musical treasures.”

Self recorded and mixed with Pall Jenkins at SDRL. Each song represents its own symbiotic dance between soaring guitars, melodic bass lines, heavy drums, and catchy hypnotic vocals.
“Shuteye Unison’s debut has a somewhat hypnotic affect on the listener and comes strongly recommended.” - The Silent Ballet
“Shuteye Unison have created something awfully ambitious and managed to make it distinct and engaging without sounding forced or contrived.” - Punknews.org

Clever unconventional bottom-of-the-bottle pop. Piano driven songs peppered with a charming array of instruments and covered with sexy male "pillow talk" vocals. Recorded over the past couple of years in various countries, cities, towns, basements and bedrooms.
“…one of the most sustainable records of the year” - Performer Magazine
